Part of the National Curriculum Foundation Stage
Communication, Language and Literacy is one of the six areas of learning Happy Days Childcare works towards on the Foundation Stage. The Foundation Stage is the first part of the National Curriculum and is incorporated into all of our activities at Happy Days Childcare ::: find out about personal, social and emotional development here

This covers all the ranges of communication such as language for communication and for thinking; linking sounds and letters; reading, writing and handwriting

Stories are read to the children each day and time is allowed for them to look at books.  The book corners in each room have a good supply of books, which are changed regularly.

The children are encouraged to recognise their name on their peg and at break time.

There is lots of time to play in our home corner and we also set up different role play situations, ie bakers, doctors, travel agents, where language is written on posters, magazines and other relevant information.
